***PHISH ALERT BUTTON***
KnowBe4 PHISH ALERT Outlook Add-in.
This add-in does not replace your ability to whitelist/blacklist emails through Barracuda; instead it allows you to report the emails that come through that you find suspicious and alert IT before you delete it. This allows IT the ability to potentially block suspicious links through our web filtering software.
How does it work?
- An email gets through the Barracuda email filter, and you follow your Security Awareness training to assess the email and find it suspicious. Examples…
- Email sender doesn’t match name. Even if the email address is valid, it doesn’t mean the attachment or link is safe. The sender’s account could have been compromised. Consider the source and whether it makes sense for that message to be sent to you.
- You aren’t expecting anything from this person. You have called them and verified they didn’t send it.
- You hover over a link in the email and it looks like a suspicious website.
- It’s brief but urgent claiming “ACT NOW”.
- Click “Phish Alert” on the Outlook toolbar (Sorry, not available in New Outlook or Web Outlook)
- You will see this pop-up
- Select “Phish Alert” to confirm and you will see this message letting you know you are awesome!
5. The email is automagically moved to the deleted items.
That’s all you need to do. We are hoping this added feature keeps DCNR secure but it takes a village. Please continue to use your Security Awareness Training and as always, do not forward the suspicious email. Take a screenshot if you want to alert others.
